Rick Robinson
Rick Robinson wants it to be clear that the talent of the young and old dancers continues to “blow him away” and he strives to never say “No”. Rick was born and raised in Chicago, and credits his incredible loving Mama with being his anchor. He appreciated all the support that she gave to him and his work throughout her life. The self proclaimed “Grandfather of Funk”, did not begin his formal training until he reached the age of 19, Rick has traveled to Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Huston, and Miami to enhance his training. In 1992, as a member of the BYU Ballroom Dance Company, his team brought home the British Formations championship, one of the most prestigious ballroom awards given. Rick and his partner, Melissa Jewkes, were the 1993 US Amateur Latin American champions twice and were the US representatives to the Worlds. His ballroom couples and teams continue to win National competitions and perform nationwide. Rick has also been entrenched in Co-directing and choreographing the Evolutions of Dance, and Dancing Under the Stars Professional Dance Productions.
